friday night italian film festival: 2019-2020 series

Italian film is as much a part of Italian culture as the food, music and people! The 2019-20 Italian Film Festival celebrates the 36th year the Italian Cultural Society has presented these special Italian and Italian-American films. 

Each film starts at 7:30pm - bring your family and friends and enjoy the social time before the film (doors open at 7:00pm) and join in the discussion after! The Italian Film Festival begins annually, showing each film only one time. The first films screen in September and October, then continue in January, February, and April, with the final film screening in May. The Friday Night Film Festival Series is organized by ICS Member Bob Masullo. 

Film Admission is $10 • Refreshments Included!

Films are shown at 7:30 pm on the designated dates at the Italian Center, 6821 Fair Oaks Blvd., Carmichael 95608

“FULL OF LIFE” 

A classic, one of the best Italian-American movies of all time, based on the novel by John Fante. In it Nick Rocco, and his wife, Emily, are expecting their first child. When a necessary home repair proves too costly, Nick must visit his father in Roseville and ask the Italian immigrant, a master stonemason, to do the work. Confronting the issues of religion and family tradition which have separated father and son causes Nick and Emily to re-evaluate their lives and the things they value most. In English. (1956)

“THE GREAT CARUSO” 

This highly fictionalized film traces the life of tenor Enrico Caruso (1873-1921).
